Dangerous malfunction!
While running a piece of 2x8x8 pine through the planer I heard a loud bang then the planer shut down. After closer inspection, I could see what looked like a major malfunction with the blade and cast broken into pieces. Luckily I wasn't injured from pieces of the blade sent flying out the machine. I'm not sure what happened but I would consider alternatives.
