★★☆☆☆
Beethoven didn't deserve this
"As the world turns" meets the Kreutzer Sonata. I'll give her 2 stars because she did a lot of research. But this is over-the- top melodrama, unbelievably clunky dialog, and general absurdity. So many clunky lines that I don't know where to start. The history, of course, is interesting, and the research is solid, so I kept reading well beyond when the characters became totally tiresome. But I just couldn't read it all the way through, so I skipped to the end. Spoiler alert: Beethoven dies. It is difficult to understand the other writers who gave it such breathless blurbs. A handy result for me, however, is that I now know to avoid their writing as well.
