Rachael Delouche-Williams is not the victim she claims. Point Blank. Rachael Lied (Too).
Update: 2/21/22 Apparantly Rachel and her agent hounded Anna so the two of them could write a book together, according to Anna.
Original Review:
I have many issues with Rachael Delouch-Williams [sic?] book, “My Friend Anna” / version of events. First I want to say I do not condone what Anna Sorokin “Anna Delvey” did. It was wrong.
Here are my issue; keep in mind I had the audio book and not the text book. (I only got it because I have so many credits)
Rachael Delouche-Williams notes many times where Anna Delvey got on her nerves or hurt her feelings, got on her nerves even early in their friendship—but Rachael kept hanging out with Anna. So I take issue with this because if Anna were in the class of Rachael (barely middle class according to the author, Rachel herself) Rachael would not have continued to hang out with Anna. Rachael only continued to hang out with Anna because of Anna paid all the time and took her to expensive meals, spas etc. So Rachael’s whoa is me act.. girl stop.
Rachael says she thought to herself “would Anna pay her back in time so she could pay off the Vanity Fair credit card so no one notice?”
Problem is: That is fraud. You still used the corporate credit card and you were trying to cover it up. You should have let Vanity Fair know ASAP.
Rachael Delouche-Williams better hope American Express doesn’t read her book. Rachael willingly put the YSL place (again, I got the audio book, can’t go back like a book for the text to get the name) and paid for the tour. The person from the YSL tour place rode back with them to the villa so Rachel could get her credit card so they could pay because they mistakenly thought it came with the package at the hotel. . Not sure how that was under false pretense . A friend who is supposed to pay you back doesn’t fall under insured credit cards.
When Rachael Delouche-Williams booked the trip she agreed to put the tickets on her card until Anna paid her back until Anna’s “bank” figured everything out. because Anna’s card declined. Hello, red flag Rachel. Um... ok.. whatever.
Spoiler Alert; Rachel never had to pay on Amex bill.
Speaking of, when Rachael Delouche-Williams turned her article in to Vanity Fair last year, American Express had credited her card so her article was deceiving. Granted, Amex did keep changing their minds (which would drive anyone nuts) nonetheless, most of the charges were already credited back. In the end, Rachael kept contesting the charges, so she never really had to pay for them out of her pocket. And if Rachael did make any payments, we sure would have heard about them and the amounts in the book, considering she gave details down to her purse/ material and color. This is deceiving. (if you contest credit card charges you don’t have to pay them until a decision is made, when Rachel contested the charges, Amex reps would tell her to re contest them)
It’s a good thing the jury did not find Anna Sorokin guilty on the count of Rachael Delouch-Williams charge because that would’ve been an easy appeal. Although the tickets were booked and paid for in NY, the other charges happened abroad so that would be a jurisdiction issue. The villa in Morocco could very well sue Rachel or even go to the authorities and get a warrant for her arrest since she signed the recipient. According to Rachael’s own evidence, Rachael said she was shocked when she learned she would be covering the charges when Anna said, “ok so I owe you [amount]” - but believed Anna would pay her back. Remember, this happened in Morocco— they have their own laws & rules. Be careful traveling abroad Rachael
This book could’ve been a lot shorter. Many details not worth noting like how in his hair was stuck in her eye lash. The writer instead conveniently left a lot of details out such as what amount of money she actually paid out of her pocket to go towards the credit card bills she cried about, how much money she borrowed from her friend etc. I am convinced she left this out because she never had to pay any money, The charges were all on the credit card, she never had to pay towards the credit card because the charges were constantly being contested
Rachael made the world believe she got stuck with this bill at the time she filed her Vanity Fair article and was paying on the bill and that never happened. Shame on you Rachael.
One more thing, Rachel claims they found Anna not guilty for her charge, she said the prosecutor and detective explained it her like this: the jury probably negotiated. LOL Rachel makes no secret that she kept up with the news, surely Rachel got the memo about the jury laughing at her
