I have owned 2 of these burr grinders for over 10 yrs. , they are indestructible , reliable , and a joy to use on a daily basis.Until today I would have rated it 5 stars. Stick with me. The weakest part of the Infinity grinder, the only part that will wear out over 10 plus years is Part #56.05 "Soft Collar for Upper Burr " it is a rubber sleeve that fits over the upper burr to make grabbing it easier for removal when cleaning. You will want to clean the grinder after each use to insure that the coffee grinds easy, and flows smoothly to the Ground Coffee Container. Not a big deal, cleaning is less than 30 seconds and becomes a part of making coffee.But ,depending on frequency of use and how often you clean it, the soft collar will wear out and become too pliable ,no longer performing its function.It will need to be replaced about every 3-6 months. That led me to periodically order 3 to 6 of them so I always had spares for each grinder. Cost me about $1.50 per collar or abut $4.50 every 12 to 18 months.No big deal. Today I called to place my order for 6 soft collars. I was told by a very embarrassed and sympathetic customer service rep. that they no longer sold the soft collar separate ,that I had to buy the Upper Burr Grinder w/ Soft Collar , $ 16 plus shipping of about $6 ,total over $22.He understood I did not need the grinder, and that I would be paying $22 for a rubber collar that used to cost me about $1.50. He even put me on hold and talked to his manager to see if they could not accommodate me.He came back and said they could not sell the collar separate as their supplier now only sells the two parts to them as a single package . Apparently Jura-Cappresso does not have enough clout with their supplier to make them sell the collar as a separate item.And if you believe that I have a bridge in Brooklyn I want to sell you. So be aware that depending on use, you may be paying over $22 with shipping for a $1.50 part you need ,for the grinder 2 to 4 times a year. Very unfortunate for such a great product, I expected more from Jura-Capresso .
