This is actually Dichlor Chlorine shock
Many purhaseres and reviewers assume like I did that this is a non chlorine shock because it is labeled only as Oxidizer which is generally used for non chlorine shock. It even shows up in searches for non chlorine shock as an Amazon Recommended choice. This product is dichlor which is simply a non stabilized chlorine shock. Shocking with any chlorine product is done to burn up Combined Chlorine which typically requires the chlorine level to be raised to ten times normal sanitation levels for a length of time. That is why most people who really know much about maintaining pools and spas use a non chlorine shock to reduce a potential build up of Combined Chlorine. Most health departments now measure Combined Chlorine levels in public pools and spas and require a water change if it reaches a very high level. Non Chlorine shock oxidizes without raising chlorine levels. This product is NOT a Non Chlorine shock and that fact should be made clear in all product descriptions and reviews. While it may solve cloudy water issues for those who do not use proper levels of sanitizers, it does so by raising chlorine levels. When it oxidizes the germs it will leave Combined Chlorine behind which will continue to increase untill the water is drained and refilled. Know before you buy.
