Today's topic will be hot spots. I started giving my 6 year old golden retriever this Cosequin suppliment for mild arthritis pain in his hip. Up until now has generally been a very healthy boy. I put him on these suppliments and almost immediately within a week started itching his face and developed a very painful, bloody and oozing hot spot just under his ear on the right side of his face. Just as the one healed up, he got another on the other side. After doing some investigating and reviewing what other dog owners have to say about this product, my conclusion is that it is indeed an allergic reaction to something in this stuff causing his hot spots. I have discontinued it and we are currently treating his wounds. I would really like to know if anyone else has had this problem.
