Awful. How has no one commented on this fundamental design flaw??????
First of all, let me just say that I rarely find it necessary to write a review for a product on Amazon, either positive or negative. However, this one was so bad, with such an obvious, detrimental design flaw, I felt it was my duty to save my fellow Amazon customers from wasting their time and money on this. This product is well constructed from steel and I have no doubt that a thief would indeed have a difficult time sawing into it. Luckily for the thief, there is absolutely no need to to breech the Disklok in order to drive the car away. The premise of the Disklok is that it free-spins on the steering wheel, meaning you cannot steer the car. However, as you can see from my picture, the back of the Disklok is open, allowing easy assess to the spokes of the wheel or even the back portion of the rim of the wheel. The rear lip of the Disklok is not large, so it's easy to curl your fingers around it, grip the rim of the wheel, and steer. My video shows how simple this is. It's certainly not a convenient way to drive, but it can be done. I easily drove my car around the block with the Disklok in place. If I can do it, a thief can do it. And then once your car is safely in his garage, I'm sure a blowtorch could remove the Disklok. Is it more effort for the thief? Yes, but only marginally so. If your car is otherwise attractive to him, I very much doubt the Disklok will change his mind. I'm flabbergasted that no one has commented on this obvious design flaw. How has this company existed since the 90s selling this useless product? And how does it have so many good reviews on Amazon?? It's frustrating because this would be an easy problem to fix. If the back of the Disklok had a wider lip that tapered towards the steering column, like a funnel, that would mean you truly could not get a grip on any part of the wheel, and therefore couldn't steer. But alas, in its current form, this is worthless. I'll be sending mine back. I guess I'll go with that "other" steering wheel lock (which shall remain nameless, lest I be accused of writing a shill review). That one is a fraction of the cost of the Disklok anyway.
