We bought the small version of this for our Yorkie. She loves it. I was quite concerned today though when she brought it to me because it was no longer working. No big deal, I thought, it probably just needs new batteries. When I went to replace the batteries, I noticed a brown substance on the outside of the ball, and I was wondering how she managed to get it so dirty. She's only had it since Christmas (this review was written January 6th). When I went to open the battery compartment, I found that the batteries had leaked the brown substance all inside the battery compartment and it was leaking out to the outside of the ball. This means that our Yorkie has been ingesting whatever the brown substance is. I realize the toy is cheap, and I didn't expect that the batteries would last forever, but after a couple of weeks of play to have the batteries leak and having no way to prevent that leakage from reaching the outside where the dog would ingest it is inexcusable.
