Over 30% failure rate, but at least GE keeps replacing. You'll need this code ...
ORIGINAL 5-STAR REVIEW: Great lights, they look exactly like regular incandescent bulbs, with the proper color and tone. And at a pretty good cost, too! Anything lower we've tried have had weird color, sort of a sickly greenish-yellow. UPDATED REVIEW: We spent over a thousand dollars to outfit our entire house with these bulbs . Although they were initially impressive, after only 8 months almost 20% have failed. GE will not honor the warranty, telling us to "return them to the seller" which of course Amazon will not do since it's been more than 30 days. UPDATE #2: Tried again with GE, this time there was a form to request warranty service. About a week later, GE has shipped replacements for the bad bulbs. However, in the mean time many MORE bulbs have failed, making the failure rate 30% in less than a year. UPDATE #3: Another round with GE, another set of replacement bulbs. Just FYI, you'll need the product ID for the form, which doesn't appear anywhere on the bulb or on Amazon. It's 68160. Go to gelighting dot com, click Contact Us, then click Product Concerns for the warranty replacement form. UPDATE #4: I have very mixed feelings about these bulbs. In terms of color quality, startup speed, etc, they're great. Top of the line. On the other hand, they just don't last. In less than two years, the majority have failed. But GE keeps sending us new ones and the later sets *seem* to be lasting OK so far. I've taken to writing the date I install each replacement bulb to see if my impressions are true. If GE has truly fixed the lifespan issue, I'd crank my rating back up to five stars. On a side note, these are now less than half as much as we originally paid! UPDATE #5: For the latest round of failures, GE is no longer supplying replacements. Instead, for each failed bulb they sent us a coupon for any pack of GE light bulbs worth up to $12.50. However, as far as I can tell, they can only be used in person. I checked and our local Lowes has a newer model of the bulbs in a two-pack for $12, which means we'll get 14 bulbs to replace our latest 7 failed ones!
