I've had Amcrest cameras for a couple years. The picture quality is great. The software is pretty clunky, but usable. As of Oct 2018, the Android app for viewing cameras remotely now requires access to the phone, contacts, location, and storage. And it automatically gives itself these permissions when it updates. Amcrest doesn't need access to my phone, contacts, or location. I don't trust them with any of that information. The cameras are just about useless without the ability to view remotely, and now you have to surrender your privacy to be able to do that.
