Fake News & IP Cash
Firstly, the film production, casting, and acting were good. Well done.
Why Fake News? The 2nd season largely takes place in Venezuela. The current corrupt president who, despite having vast oil and natural resource wealth has impoverished the country. This sounds true to real life, right? Hugo Chavez of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela and his political heirs? There is an election taking place, and supporters of the oppressed and honorable opposition candidate are described as "leftists". We are left to deduce that the Chavez wannabees in office must be the "rightists". The "elites" who create our entertainment media just cannot bare to have leftism look bad in any way, and must always inject the fervor of tribalism in everything. And they try so hard to educate us.
Lastly, the IP Cash Grab. Anyone familiar with the works of Tom Clancy must see the serious disconnect between the genera that he dominated for so long and this product bearing his name. A trademark of his style includes the authenticity that he tried so hard to provide. This show has people going off on what the military would call suicide missions, half-cocked and unprepared, all at the spur of the moment, all of the time. The notorious love that Clancy had for letting the reader know how things worked in the real world is not present at all. I could go on, but meh... I place blame directly at the feet of the producers. I will think twice before spending any money and time supporting their future projects.
