Loyal Nest User is Fed Up with Thermostat Malfunctions.
Valentines Day 2016 - I'm writing as someone who owns 10 Nest Thermostat Units (office and home) I have had some units for as many as 3 years and some are recently purchased. I was a big fan and spent $2500 on these NEST Thermostats to prove it. I am seriously considering removing all the units and replacing them because I do not want to have to worry about my home and office thermostats working correctly. ---- At this moment, multiple NEST units at multiple locations are not functioning correctly. As I am sure everyone agree's, a Thermostat NEEDs TO WORK CORRECTLY --- Especially a thermostat that costs $250. I'm currently on hold for Nest support ( NINETY SEVEN -- 97 Minutes wasted on hold for NEST Support. ) 97 Minutes of my life - SO FAR ---- Did I mention that this is on Valentines Day which is part of Presidents Day weekend.. Let me say that again. On the coldest day of the year, 5 Degree's, NEST Support does not answer their phones after 97 minutes on hold --- So, as I waste my holiday weekend on hold waiting for NEST Support, worrying if my NEST THERMOSTAT is going to cause broken pipes and flooding at my office -- where the Inside Office temperature at my office is under 30 Degrees. -- . The Nest team is home spending time with their families or away for a nice long weekend. But don't worry, the recording says that my call is important to them and that they apologize for the wait. NEST Support DETAILS - On the coldest day of 2016 here in New Jersey, when is it 5 degrees outside, several of my Nest Thermostats are not working correctly . My OFFICE NEST is reporting that the inside office temperature is under 30 Degree's --- ( I'm worried that pipes are going to break)... The unit seem to be going into "AWAY MODE" and is not responding to my app or web control panels orders to turn on and raise the temperature. At the same time a NEST unit in my HOME, which controls my baby's room and our dogs room, has made the room temperature 60 degrees while the program is set to 74 degrees. (The other zones in the home are working as programed so there is no problem with the boiler) Frankly, this is just not acceptable. Nest Charges $250 each for these units, I already have a full time job, Nest Thermostats need to work and work all the time. Programing note -- with regard to the AWAY settings, during the initial setup I set the AWAY Settings to a minimum temperature of 55 degrees. Nest appears to have over written my settings -- AGAIN ... They do this when they update your software, without your consent, without any notification and they seem to be doing this often lately. In the attached picture you will see that at that point, I had been on hold for 1 hour and 7 minutes and the NEST Thermostat, shows a room temperature of 48 Degrees even while the NEST is set for 71 degrees. Brrrrrrrrrrr. Lastly, Nest Support is insulting... Every Nest unit reports room temperature and settings back to NEST/Google, they know the room temperature in ever NEST installation. That means they know when the inside temperatures are below the set temperature. They also know when they have created a software malfunction when they update our units. Based on Nest's actions of not answering the calls in a reasonable of time , not staffing to answering the calls in a reasonable amount of time, and their repeated messages to look on line for help instead of answering the calls.... and the fact that happens when ever you call them. A formerly loyal customer can only come the conclusion that NEST DOES NOT CARE about me as a client or the level of service they provide to support the $250. thermostat that they want to sell you. I could go on an on..... But I have to drive 20 miles to office and make sure that the pipes have not burst because of nests faulty program.
