Agree with some of the other reviewers that the sizes tend to run larger than you would expect. I'm a 34x32 and the Medium was the best fit at the waist; fits even with several layers of wool leggings underneath. However, in terms of length found them to be about an inch shorter than I would like (this obviously depends on how tall you are). Also, they are quite baggy, which can make maneuvering in them a bit awkward, particularly, for example, if you are wearing crampons. I have taken these pants on two weeklong backpacking and ice climbing trips with heavy wind and snow and near-zero temps, as well as a few times skiing. I wear them over a pair or two of leggings and have found them to be plenty warm, windproof, and waterproof. However, the workmanship is questionable for this kind of activity; the stitching has come undone in various places. See picture -- there's a hole right in the seat of the pants, and the velcro for the pocket is coming undone, which I think is unacceptable for the amount that I have used them. As a result, I would not buy them again. I could see them holding up fine for light activities -- shoveling a driveway, riding a snowmobile, that sort of thing -- but I would not recommend them as a go-to pant for a more serious foray outdoors.
