First let me say I have been a loyal Amazon customer for over a decade. I bought the first generation Kindle Fire HD (16) and I was absolutely delighted. Recently, we had that much loved Kindle stolen while on vacation. I came home and ordered the "New" Kindle Fire HD and it arrived yesterday. I received it and it is truly disappointing. I was shocked! It feels really cheap, like possibly Amazon cut costs and had China remake this and then stamped their logo on it. As I said, I had an original first generatation Kindle Fire HD and I PROMISE it is by and far superior to this "New" Kindle HD. Terrible terrible terrible. The background is a cream color, not white and definitely not sharp, adjusting the brightness makes this worse. The graphics from movies and Youtube are NOT HD quality. There is no camera and no HDMI but I really do not care for those features anyway. This is going to be returned. First time I have ever been disappointed. AMAZON WHAT have you done to the perfect Kindle Fire HD you had for sale? Maybe my husband is right - when a company markets a "NEW" version I can guarantee they are not adding something to benefit the customer, they generally are doing it to save on costs. I also guarantee my review will match many, many more that are sure to follow. Truly heartbroken, we miss the first generation Kindle we had. Hold on to yours tightly, trust me if you own one.
