Another defective filter here. We used it at low to medium levels for a few months when we noticed "that smell" but couldn't track it down. Luckily, ours did flame out on its own, killing the unit, though leaving us confused about why our brand new air purifier died after a couple months of light use. Reviews online cued us in - when we opened it up, it stank of electrical fire, melted plastic, and narrow escapes. Check out the blackened circuitry attached. Criminy, we used to run this thing in our room at night while we slept!!! Counting ourselves as lucky. PLEASE recall this.
