Quick crash course...Hardly ever you are purchasing brand new factory released modem. period end of discussion. Now, repeatable companies, wipe the modem history and remove all accounts. Now, second stage of crash course. Your modem serial number plus MAC ID is linked and registered to your account you have from ( Cox, Xfinity, Spectrum etc.) If proper process did not take place at cable provider or new Serial Number is not issued ( yes, there is a law that allows modified serial number to be issued to refurbished products), you as the consumer just screwed. Modem cannot be reset, cannot be adjusted. Only option return to seller. You lose time, any a few more nerves. Naturally, before you make the purchase you cannot know serial number and MAC ID to confirm with your provider. Nice catch 22... I am open minded, there might be some people who purchased and all went well. Mine did not, can you be sure your will go well?
