The first page after the introduction has incorrect information
I ordered this as a whim - it came up as a sponsored book, and for the first time ever, I clicked on one of those (it's always turned me off before, but I was lured in by the title and concept) and was intrigued: grammar for kids, and with dragons? Sounded great! I really like the idea, Diane Mae Robinson!
The first real page of text turned me off, however. There is a page of introduction, and the next page is Grammar Terminology. The first part of speech discussed is Adjective. One explanation reads this way: "Adjectives can also describe more about another adjective that follows it." It gives this example: "The most entertaining jester in the kingdom is somewhat disorganized." In the text, "most entertaining" and "somewhat disorganized" are in bold, suggesting that all four words are adjectives. Unless I have been led astray in life, "most" and "somewhat" are adverbs; adverbs, not adjectives, tell you more about adjectives. If there is an error like this on the first page, I am loath to hand it to my daughter for her to use and learn from.
The end also asks for reviews on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Goodreads. I know that's how many books are sold these days, but that also seems...a little icky.
The rest of the book may be spot-on, but this opening is a turn off. I want my daughter to have a proper (and, ideally, fun!) grammar resource, and unfortunately, this does not seem to be it.
