Another VTech Fail
I wish I could give this product zero stars. And furthermore, I will never, EVER buy another VTech product. My daughter got this watch as a gift for Christmas. She loved it because she loves all watches. She was so very careful with it, always making sure to take it off before she washed her hands. Unfortunately, last month, when she had had it for less than 3 months, she tried to hand it to me to hold while she went to wash her hands, and I didn't have a good hold on it, so it fell on the floor. That ONE short drop caused the photo button to stick in the watch, so now it won't work. I called VTech, thinking that hey, this is a kids watch, and it looks like it was supposed to be built to withstand a drop here and there. So I told the rep exactly what happened, and he told me that their 90 day warranty only covers normal wear and tear, and since she dropped it, that voided the warranty. My question is, normal wear and tear for whom?? This is marketed as a kids' watch. Normal wear and tear for a child (Age 4 and up, I might add) is not the same as normal wear and tear for an adult, or even a teenager. You know what his suggestion was? That I go to their website and spend another 50 bucks on a new one! Really??? I told him that it would be stupid to spend another 50 bucks on something for a kid that is obviously that fragile. I would advise anyone considering purchasing this watch for their child to save his/her money, especially if that child has a tendency to be rough on toys. This product is just too expensive for the crappy warranty that comes with it, and given the fact that it can and will very easily be broken.
