Don't Waste Your Money - NO REFUNDS ON THIS ITEM
I bought this trimmer after doing a lot of research and reading the other reviews, and initially felt really good about the purchase. However, when I finally got the trimmer I thought it looked and felt a little cheap (cheap plastic, things didn't fit together quite right, even the Husqvarna sticker looked cheap), but Husky has a good reputation so I figured it would still work fine for me. After all, I'm just a homeowner with an acre of weeds, I'm not using it commercially. It worked great the first two weekends I used it (plenty of power and started easily), but it broke on the third. Something with the clutch or drivetrain as the head would only engage about 25% of the time. When you go to Husqvarna's website they tell you to take it to a local service center...so I did. They told me 4-6 weeks to have it repaired through Husky's warranty program. So it's April in Southern California, only about half my yard has been cleared, the brush is drying out, fire season is around the corner, and I have to pause for 4-6 weeks while my 7 week old trimmer gets repaired? Are you kidding me?! So this is how it feels to be proud Husqvarna owner?! Needless to say I was extremely disappointed. So disappointed in fact, that I just wanted to return this piece of crap and get my money back. But wait, it clearly says on Amazon's website "Special Shipping Information: This item cannot be returned to Amazon.com" - too bad I didn't see that until Amazon customer service pointed it out to me. Amazon absolutely will NOT allow you to return this product for a refund. Likewise, here is Husqvarna's refund policy (straight from their website): "Husqvarna does not have a return policy. Husqvarna's policy is one of repair." So it is now quite apparent that neither Husqvarna nor Amazon will stand behind this product, and there is no way I'm getting my money back from either one of them. It's so frustrating that we consumers have absolutely no recourse against these giant, billion dollar companies when they make and sell a cheap defective product. Technically it's my fault for not reading the fine print, but should I really have to with Amazon and Husqvarna? Apparently so. Lesson learned. At least I can attempt to sway others from making the same mistake. I will get the trimmer repaired, put it on Craigslist and see if I can't get a few bucks back. Meanwhile I will be purchasing a Stihl or Echo from a local dealer to finish my yard. I checked out both at the repair shop today and you can just see the difference in quality...and they are the same price as this piece of junk. I will never buy another Husqvarna product again. UPDATE: I ended up getting an Echo SRM-266T (from a local small lawnmower business) and absolutely love it. Supposedly it's the same trimmer our City landscapers use on a daily basis. At any rate, it's rock solid (nothing cheap feeling about it), has a vibration dampening handle, rubber grips, starts with one or two pulls, and has a ton of power. And it has a 5 year warranty. If you've got a large yard with some serious weeds and grass, spend the extra $120 and get a commercial trimmer. You won't be sorry.
