My previous tablet - Amazon's best ever, the HDX 8.9 - had a leather origami cover on it that I absolutely loved. This cover SUCKS. First off, the "cobalt purple" is pretty distinctly blue. Still pretty, but not what I was hoping for. The real problem, though, is that the kickstand style is not nearly as stable as the origami cover was. In portrait mode, it lists and will NOT stay up if you touch it. So probably okay if you're using to read or look at a recipe hands-free, but still annoying because of the obvious list to one side. In landscape mode, it's reasonable stable (not likely to out and out collapse on you), but it shifts a little with moderate tapping on the screen. And over time, as the kickstand seam breaks in, the angle is going to tilt the tablet back even more from an already non-optimal angle. The kickstand style is also not helpful for holding the tablet in one hand, while tapping with the other. The origami case gave the hand something to hold on to, but this one does not. So you have to flatten it out and hold it by the edge, which is fatiguing. This cover is cheaper than the leather origami cover, but not enough cheaper to make up for its shortcomings. The fact that it's fabric is reason enough for it to be cheaper, but there's no excuse for the downgrade in functionality!
