Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

I had high hopes for this book and bought it based on all the positive amazon reviews, but clearly it’s not for everyone....including me. Very, very boring. I’m 250 pages and I’m ready to give up on it (and as a former English major I almost never give up on any novels, even the bad ones.) I love romances and I love historical fiction, so I was excited about such a popular book combining the two, but it just doesn’t seem to work in this novel. There were a couple parts in the first 250 pages that were interesting, like what life in a castle was like, but the capper on just how bad this book is Claire. Having a smug, know-it-all narrator’s voice coupled with how slooowww and boring this story is makes me rather clean my house than want to sit down and read it. I honestly can’t find anything likeable about Claire’s character. I haven’t gotten to the later parts of the book (and probably won’t at this point), but nothing about this book so far is compelling me to keep reading it. Sad, because I was looking forward to liking it. I don’t understand how it’s become so popular. The show looks much better.
