I got this specifically for sun protection for my lupus. I used it for 5 days on vacation and it was comfortable. The fabric attached to back is soft and silky and long enough to actually help cover the sides of your neck However the top of my head did get too much uv exposure. The brim and fabric that goes down your neck seem to work ok. The layer on top did not. After getting home my lupus flared on top of my head. Now waiting for the hair loss which happens next when my head is exposed to uv. I tested it with my transition glasses with two hats. One hat the glasses stayed clear but with this hat the lenses started to darken. If you are highly sensitive to the sun do not get this hat. Getting a UV meter and will never trust manufacturer's protection claims again.
