DO NOT BUY
I’m editing my review as I suggest that many others do. When this monitor arrives you’re told that if you leave a good rating you will get an extra camera. So, no wonder they are the highest rated monitor on amazon.
This monitor doesn’t work if you have WiFi in your home. It cuts in and out constantly so you really have no idea what is happening in the nursery. It also stores an image so what you see when you first turn it on might be an empty crib if you just put LO down. I contacted customer service about the cutting in and out and was told that I can’t have any WiFi devices in between the camera and the monitor. So no cellphone on your bedside table ... it can’t be within 3 feet of the monitor. I was also told to turn off my router ... that’s not practical! I can’t get a return because I bought this way before baby arrived so I didn’t realize it was terrible ... Save yourself the worry and buy a different brand!
Here are the details I was emailed to correct the problem:
Can you please try the following steps to reduce interference, signal issues or drop-outs:
• Keep both the Monitor Unit and the Camera Unit at least 3ft away from any routers or 2.4ghz wifi devices (smartphones, tablets, etc.). Some users forget that they have a smartphone in their pocket when fiddling with the monitor; or placing the monitor and smartphone very close to each other on bedside while they sleep. The further away the wifi devices are from the monitor, the less interference there is.
• Do not place any 2.4ghz devices between the direct line of communication of the monitor and camera unit. e.g. smartphone placed in BETWEEN the monitor unit and camera unit (regardless of which room they are in)
• Position the antenna to the upright position if you are using the monitor & camera unit and the same floor, or the horizontal position if the monitor & camera unit are on different floors (e.g. in a two-story house)
• Change the Wi-Fi channel setting on your router. As per the instructions manual of your router, log into the settings page and change CHANNEL from ‘AUTOMATIC’ to channel ‘1’. If this channel does not help, try other channels.
• If the issue is interference with your WIFI network (e.g. slow download speeds) try positioning the monitor & camera unit as far away as possible from your router. Avoid placing your router in BETWEEN the camera & monitor unit.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue.
Best,
Mae
