WAS a great game...
This new update changed the game for the worse! Lost all of my progress, and the new upgrade system practically FORCES you to spend REAL money to progress, or wait until the part you need is in the store, which is pretty unpredictable and takes DAYS. If you can't upgrade, you're out of luck because the level is nearly impossible unless you upgrade. I'm not saying the old version wasn't like that, but now its a lot worse. At least in the old one it was POSSIBLE to upgrade. You just needed coins, and you could get those by replaying early levels. Now, the only way to get parts is by buying them or getting 3 stars, which is VERY difficult. If you crash even once, you get 2 stars, even if you get 1st place. Not only that, but you need specific parts for specific CARS. You can't just use a part on ANY cart, you need a specific part (Silver, Gold, Epic) for a specific cart class (Air, Stunt, etc.) for a specific CAR (Ham Glider, etc.) This makes it very difficult to upgrade a single cart, which is whats needed to win races. Another thing ruined is energy. You need energy to participate in races, like in many free to play games. Now hear me out. In the OLD version, each character had their OWN energy, 5 per character. So, three characters gets you 15 energy. Now, with 3 characters, you'll have reached level 5 by then and earned 30 energy. Sounds great, right? WRONG! Why? In the OLD version, every race took only ONE energy. So, 15 energy equates to 15 races. Now, the cost varies, races averaging around 5 energy. Assuming each race cost 2 energy, it would be the same as the old. But, of course, its MUCH higher than that. So now, 30 energy can get you WAY less than 15 races. So, technically you get LESS! Understand? Its a lot to take in, so if you didn't, just trust me when I say they're ripping you off. Lastly, the games physics have changed drastically. Flying is a lot more awkward, carts are damaged more easily, and turning is a lot less clean. The game feels a little slower, but that might just be me. Oh, one more thing. Gems, the premium currency, seem to only be obtainable through in app-purchases. Njo mention of them at all in the tutorial. But you can buy them. Not even when you level up will get them. Overall, the game just feels completely different. It was better before the changes. It was actually FUN. Now, it feels like an attempt by Rovio to squeeze money out of their customers. It feels like they just purposely made the game obscenely complicated and difficult just to trick people into spending money. I hope someday GO! will return to its roots and go back to its old style. Its a shame such wonderful game has been soiled by greed. It was one of the only enjoyable racing games on mobile, but until there is change, I will be uninstalling this game. You should still try, you might enjoy it. But you'll most likely leave due to frustration or confusion. Be sure to keep an eye on this game though. If it returns to the old setup, you WILL enjoy it.
