First let me say that the premise of this game, just like almost all the others you purchase thru Amazon, is for you to spend your hard-earned cash. Yes, REAL money. Now, is there a way for you to play this game without spending real money? Sure there is. Will you get anywhere fast without spending real money? No....of course not! But even without spending a dime you can still be a fashionista. Before I go on, one of the biggest issues I have with this game is the lack of instructions. If it had not been for my girlfriend who has been playing this game for a long time, I would have given up within the first 5 minutes. Needless to say, she has much more patience than I do! There is a 'frequently asked questions' portion in this game, but I have found the answers to be brief without much substance. I feel that this game is more of a 'learn as you go' type of thing. So with that being said, let me continue with my review. There are 'events' that you enter. Some of these events have certain requirements such as 'wear 2 blue items' and 'wear an item by Rachel Zoe'. Once you complete the event, you press enter at the bottom of your screen and you are now a true fashion designer (somewhat). After pressing enter, your design is complete and up for voting by others that play the game. Some events don't have any requirements at all meaning it's all free-style and you can dress your model any way you choose. All events have a vague description of what your design should be, but as we all know, fashion is truly a matter of interpretation and boy oh boy, interpretation is what you'll see once you start voting! When these events have rules of what you're supposed to include in your design, some people 'hide' certain items under dresses, etc. For example, if the look your trying to achieve is a formal ball gown look and let's say your supposed to include 2 pink items in the look. Some who play this game might have a pink bikini in their wardrobe and put it on their model under the ball gown. This way they get 'credit' for the 2 pink items even though you don't see it when it comes time for voting, nor would you want to if your looking at a formal design. This is something the game developers need to get a handle on. I would say that most people do follow the rules diligently but there are more than a fair amount who do not. This is completely unfair in my book. As you play the game, you move up in acquiring new hairdos and makeup looks. It takes a long time and the people that have the most money to spend get to these new looks faster. Which of course takes us right back to spending your hard earned money on this game. If you spend it you will get to these higher levels faster. I would say that the people who have the higher level makeup and hairdo looks will be the ones to win the event. Of course it isn't impossible for those that are lower levels to win, but I would say the ratio is about 8 to 10 that you won't. Okay, okay, maybe 7 to 10, but you get the picture! Some of the events that you can enter are a bit unrealistic. Recently there was a 'circus contortionist' event. It was kind of fun and when I was all done with my design I went to hit the enter button and I got a message stating my model was not dressed appropriately. I kept going back and looking at her and couldn't figure out what the problem was until I figured out I didn't have any shoes on her feet. Shoes? On a contortionist?? Get real! So I was forced to put shoes on her! Silly event. Word of warning, don't be afraid to put a purse with your event designs. It seems like there are those that simply can not complete an outfit without the model having her purse! Recently there was a Shezilla event. That's right...Shezilla! Shezilla in my book is a bad person and here to cause destruction to mankind. But when I went to vote on the looks, there she was, Shezilla with a purse! I guess you never know when you might need to get into your purse and drag out some makeup to touch up your look while terrorizing the world! And trust me....Shezilla with a purse? She will get some good voting! Every event has a time stamp on it so you know when the results will be in. But....will your results be in at 'exactly' that time?? Apparently not as I've had to wait not minutes but hours after the results are in to find out what my styling score is. That simply isn't fair. Some of us put really hard work into designing our looks and part of the fun is to see if we've won the event. But you just have to sit back and wait for the results. It's crazy. This game crashes constantly and without warning. It can happen at any time and is extremely frustrating. To wrap it all up, the reason why I gave this game one star is: the constant crashing, the lack of instructions and the cheating of hiding certain items on the models. The developers of this game need to get a handle on this stuff. However, if your patient and willing to put up with the issues I have listed, the game can be fun. Just an fyi, my game was free. I have no idea if it's free all the time or if it was free for a period of time. Also, I play the game on my KindleFire HD.
