A dud within 4 weeks - UPDATED 8/7/2020
I bought this battery as a back-up for my original Dewalt 20V "WR" 5AH that I got in 2016. Although I was careful to purchase what I thought was an identical Dewalt battery, this was dead and would not charge after less than a month of occasional use.
My original battery is still working fine, by the way! That one is going on five years old. I noted that the new dud battery has "cells made in Malaysia, pack assembled in Mexico", whereas the original battery was made in Korea.
Anyway, I have missed the window for returning this useless chunk and am pretty upset about it.
I would recommend against ordering items like this though Amazon. Their ability to properly vet their suppliers is questionable. This is an expensive item that may work for long enough for the return window to close. You are better off buying at a big box retailer like Home Depot or Lowe's.
UPDATE 8/7/2020: I will leave this as a one star review for the benefit of others who may be having troubles. I managed to arrange a warranty replacement by calling Dewalt / Black & Decker in Winter Park FL. They sent a replacement within a few days. Once again, the new battery would not charge. I have a DCB115 Dewalt charger. I eventually found that I needed to sort of slam the battery into the charger with some force, then it would finally charge normally. Same with the new battery that I considered to be a dud. This is not something I need to do with my older Dewalt 20V battery, that one I can gently place into the charger and it charges, as I should be able to expect. It seems like the newer Dewalt batteries are more apt to have poor connections to the charging unit, and this seems to have been the cause of my troubles. Maybe this will help some of you out there having similar troubles.
