Defective Unit. Read the Warranty! Manufacturer Customer Service/Warranty Replacement Needs Improvement.
This bike started making clicking and whirring sounds after a few weeks of usage. These sounds became louder as the bike usage increased. The pedals/cranks also began slipping (from heavy tension to almost zero tension within a single crank stroke) during moderate use. The bike quickly became unusable for anything other than very short, low resistance rides. Getting in contact with the manufacturer's customer service was a challenge. (I'd suggest filling out the "Contact Us" form on the manufacturer website - I received a response within 4 days when I used that method). I made the mistake of initially trying to directly contact the manufacturer via phone calls & emails to their customer service. Good luck getting a live person at their customer service 800#. I called 6 times and got the voice mail every time (I left 3 voice mails requesting assistance - without ever receiving a response). I also sent 3 emails to their customer service over a 2 week span, again without ever receiving a response. Once contact was established via the website, the manufacturer's customer service representative was very helpful and arranged to send me a "Complete Unit Replacement" (after I provided some information regarding the use and operation of the defective unit). What I eventually received from the manufacturer, however, was not the "Complete Unit Replacement" that I'd been promised - I only received a main frame & crank drive assembly, without any of the peripheral components. I wasn't particularly bothered by this development and figured that I'd just swap the parts out with my defective unit and then everything would be peachy. However, the replacement parts I received from the manufacturer were used (obvious wear & tear from prior use) and defective (cracked & broken). I've attached images of the replacement parts I received from the manufacturer. I'm currently pending a response from the manufacturer regarding the used/damaged replacement parts that I received. I'll update my review upon further contact with them. "You get what you pay" seems appropriate when describing this product. This bike appears to only be suitable for the very lightest of use. The frame appears sturdy, however, the magnetic belt drive just doesn't seem up to snuff. Also - pay special attention to the actual details of the warranty - the frame is warrantied for 1 year and "all other parts" are only covered for 90 days (which, you guessed it, covers the drive parts most prone to premature failure). It'd also be fair to say that my experience with the manufacturer's customer service could've been better. The rep who contacted me was very helpful, however, the difficulty I initially encountered when trying to contact the manufacturer, in addition to the defective replacement parts I eventually received, have all somewhat soured the whole experience.
