First off this is my third kindle fire, first being the original kindle fire second being the same model as my third which is the current kindle fire. I purchased this kindle May 11th 2016. I bought a high end case for this kindle at the same time of purchase and was protected the entire 5 months this kindle was used. It stopped working/charging about a week ago (10/1/2016. Called customer service, whom which were very helpful. Walked me though about ten minutes of trouble shooting (holding on button and other such things). No success, transferred me to another are of the company, clearly out of the unit states which I have no problem with. They told me my 5 month old kindle was out of warranty (5 month old product like I just said). The guy asked me how long I thought my warranty on this device was, I kind of stuttard thinking it might 1 year factory warranty. He told me these new kindle fires only have a 3 month warranty. Well enough said my 5 month old kindle fire no longer worked and there was nothing they could do for besides offer my a measly $25 discount on a much more expensive model. Well lesson learned as I calmly told the customer service representative that you get what you pay for and that I was disappointed with the Amazon warranty. Anyways, my faith is lost with Amazons electronic devices and that's all I have to say about that.
