I bought this specifically because of the air issues during our California wildfires. During this week, with the public being warned that the air quality is HIGHLY DANGEROUS due to particulate pollution from the huge Camp Fire (it appears to be almost nighttime outside at noon because of the smoke), this machine set to automatically sample the air and adjust itself, displays that the air is at one of the most clean levels possible on the front display. As a test, I placed it on my back patio where we have to wear safety masks because of the smoke, and it still registers that the air is clean and breezy. Again, this is when the government has warned us that all exposure to the air at this quality is life threatening. Does the machine clean the air? I don't know. It seems not to know that if should even try.
