So it is sad that I must now switch to another product
Unfortunately, my review is similar to many other 1 star reviews here. I have been using Turbo Tax since before it was Turbo Tax - and prior to Intuit's ownership. So it is sad that I must now switch to another product. Am seeing a price here of $99.99 for this version to do a schedule C for my small business. Each year for the past 5 or so years the price goes up. That is not a problem as any business will raise it's prices as the product reviews are high and the cost of doing business increases. However, increases such as this - plus forcing long time small business to buy the more expensive version as well is just too much.
Last night I checked out Turbo Tax pricing at a local Target -- $99.99 there as well. On the shelf below were the versions of H&R Block. Was pleased to see the Premier version contained all the forms I need, including Schedule C, with a pricing of $54.00 (that also included State return download. Was a bit hesitant at first wondering if I would get into my '14 forms and find myself doing a bunch of manual stuff.
This AM I loaded it on my main office machine and imported my TT '13 return. Most everything seemed to load OK. I made a few entries based on what I know so far with my '14 year data and all seems OK - so I saved to my Dropbox folder and went to lunch - with my laptop. Over lunch I loaded a copy on that machine, opened my '14 return from DropBox - then messed around a bit more.
There is a bit of a learning curve as some things are done differently - such as I miss the big plus sign to give me one click access to the origin of data items. However, it only takes a few extra mouse clicks to do the same thing. Certainly not more than the $50 incremental cost to purchase TT this year.
I may go back next year - but only if TT does a major shift in their pricing model. OTOH, it will most likely be easier to stay with H&R - as I read in reviews here that TT chokes when importing from H&R.
Again, sadly after so many years, I do not recommend Turbo Tax.
