I've been buying Brooks Beasts for many years. The Beast 20 is a significant downgrade, aesthetically, and (more importantly) from a structural standpoint. It's plainly obvious that some half-bright rando in the Brooks food chain thought they'd re-imagine the shoe, while cutting costs in the process. (There is standard boilerplate being offered on the Brooks website that attempts to rationalize the design change. Fail.) In short, the design changes are a bust. The new style is goofy, even ridiculous, and the structural changes are (to state it politely) not an improvement. In the end, it's clear that cost-cutting was the primary motivating factor for the change, boilerplate claptrap to the contrary notwithstanding. Hey Brooks Management: Put on your thinking cap and try to keep up: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If the company doesn't return to the original design, I won't be buying Brooks Beasts again.
