I wanted to give this set a try because it looked nice and the spoon appeared deep. When I first took the set out of its plastic wrap I found the smell absolutely repugnant. The fork illustrates poor craftsmanship best: lacquer is used that smells (is it okay to even put in your mouth??) and is very poorly carved (includes splinters between the prongs). I bought this with the intention of refusing plastic utensils when outside, but unfortunately they are just not usable. And this set is made in China so they should stop marketing as "Japanese wooden."
