Don't fall for it! Synchrony is a PREDATORY LENDER!!!!!
What are you thinking? First, you know better than to get a credit card or line of credit to buy something off of Amazon. I do understand though, and I only realize how utterly stupid I was borrowing from Synchrony Bank. I needed a new laptop - I just had to have it! Just having repaired my bad credit, and having finished payin off my last debt, I knew I would qualify, "maybe even for as much as $500," I thought to myself. To my surprise, I was approved for nearly $3000 without even having a full time job at the time. I thought it was great, and it was...for a while. I tried my best to be responsible - buying only what I needed, and keeping over half of the available balance free for emergencies. I made all payments on time and promptly and everything was find - until my "introductory rate" expired, that is. The next months statement came, and I expected to see that I had about a $900 balance and about $2000 in available credit - Instead, I found myself over the limit BY NEARLY DOUBLE the total credit they originally issued me. So there I was, owing them about $5000 or so - 2000 of which was over the limit, causing things to spiral out of control at an exponential rate. Suddenly, I couldn't even afford to make the minimum payment of nearly $1500 which led to more fees and penalties and that cycle continued. Meanwhile, the two other creditors that I have that I was keeping in good standing were suddenly and unexpectedly bought up by Synchrony Bank. I hate them, I hate everything about them, if they were to offer me an unlimited credit line with 0% interest I wouldn't take it from them. Honestly, the people at Synchrony are nothing short of criminal, and I do think they should be prosecuted for predatory loan practices. Literally, get credit through ANY other creditor, even ones with bad reps like Credit One Bank are more reasonable than Synchrony - DO NOT DO IT!!!!!!
