READ THIS REVIEW - NEW MODELS ARE GARBAGE
Revised: 2/9/21 I just downgraded stars from 2 to 1. We just had our 3rd one of these fail in the past 4 weeks. Same issue every time with the spinning deadbolt knob not catching. ------ I am real estate professional. I personally own literally 20+ of this model lock. I manage other properties with about 10-15 more. These USED to be the gold standard. Sadly, they are no longer worth their weight in paper, and Schlage (Allegion - parent company) knows it. I just replaced a couple that lasted ~4-5 years - I am more than happy with that lifespan. Some of these replacements lasted less than 4 weeks each, 1 didn't work out of the box. In fact, I am averaging about a 50% fail rate on all new BE365's - that's a sample size of 8. On the duds, the electronics still work, but the deadbolt will spin and never actually catch the lock to unlock. It just spins forever. Now in the past, Schlage's customer service has been top-notch. So I gave them a call. I asked what changed - a redesign or a new manufacturing plant? Let's solve this problem together, right? I loved their product, and I just want them to work. Well, they declined to tell me. But the CS Rep 100% knew that there is a huge problem that Schlage does not want to admit. They agreed to send me replacements for 3 of the locks (the 4th I had already returned to Home Depot). The advice was to install a piece of felt behind the lock to help protect from the cold. What? Really? I'm in the deep south - it's not that cold - and why aren't they supplying said pieces of felt if they know it is an issue?? 2 weeks later, no replacements received. I emailed Schlage and 24 hours later, they claim I need to re-send the serial codes (already done once and they acknowledged receipt at that time) and provide additional information. Wow. I've spent countless hours already with this, not to mention client lock-outs have costed me $100's, if not $1,000's, and I still have broken locks. So, in summation, what used to be a 5-star product is now a 1-star product. What used to be 5-star customer service is now 1-star customer service. I'll gladly update this review if there a reason to do so.
