Beware!! Third use and it burned my hair off!
This curling iron arrived on Feb. 17th 2020, I used it once that day at heat setting 350. My hair turned out great. It was easy to use. I always use a heat protectant, and don't use any extra styling products in my hair. I used the iron again a day later, also on 350 heat setting and again great hair.
However, today I plugged it in and again set it to 350 heat setting. Just before I used the iron I noticed a "hot" smell. I double checked that I had it set to 350 and not the highest heat setting of 450, and indeed it was set to 350. So, I thought the smell was perhaps because it was so new. The moment I put the iron to my hair to begin to curl my hair, I immediately smelled a burned hair smell and removed the iron... too late. I hadn't even clamped the iron over the piece of hair I planned to curl in the front of my head. The moment the iron touched my hair it burned it. It smelled horrid! In shock, I brushed through the piece of hair and found that many strands came out. Throughout the morning I noticed more hair just falling out from that piece.
The photo shows my hair is long and the close up shows the weird spiky pieces I have from where this wretchedly malfunctioning curling iron has burned my hair off!!
I read a review that said someone had used it five months and had similar experience, but I thought perhaps that person abused the iron. I have only had this iron 3 days and it has already malfunctioned and burned my hair. I'm not sure how hot an iron must be to burn hair at the first touch, but I'm guessing it must be way beyond its max heat setting of 450. I'm returning this and going to try another iron with only excellent reviews. Buyer beware.
