Has some great features but I can't recommend to others
I bought the Excursion Pro a couple of weeks ago due to the amount of positive reviews of the other Intex kayaks. I felt pretty confident that this pro kayak would be just as good or better than the less expensive models. The price and features of the Excursion Pro were exactly what I was looking for. Pros: Relatively inexpensive Foot rests and elevated seat cushion Weight and packability Comes with everything you need except PFD Nice quality air valves Cons: Durability Lack of legroom and balance with both seats installed Paddles are too short even for a smaller person Tracking was just okay I set the kayak up at home before taking it out to a nearby lake. Setup was quick and easy, the first time it took me about 10 minutes to fully setup. When taking it to the lake I had my 4 year old son with me, so I set it up with both seats. I'm 6'1" and just under 200lbs, my son is 40 lbs. The balance of the boat was not the best because I had the front seat as far forward as it would go and we didn't feel as stable as I would have liked, and the tracking wasn't that great. When I had my son move forward a couple of feet it was much better. Two similar weighted people would be a much better fit. I think more adjustability in the seats would have helped, but you are fairly limited in seat placement. After bringing the boat to shore and deflating the kayak I noticed a small puncture in the bottom of the kayak. I was surprised it had punctured, but I thought maybe it was a one-time issue and maybe I hit something sharp in the sand bed when bringing it to shore, although I was very careful not to put any excessive pressure on the boat when getting out of it. I used the supplied patch kit (you have to supply your own cement/glue) and sealed the hull. A week later I took the kayak again to the same spot with my older son who has a hard shell Pelican kayak. Upon inflating my kayak I discovered there was another hole in the inside of the starboard chamber. I have no idea how this kayak is puncturing so easily, I'm typically very careful with all of my gear, and I made extra attempts to store this kayak correctly and make sure nothing came in contact with the boat that could potentially damage it. I do like this kayak a lot and had every intention of getting several years of use out of it, but I can't recommend it based on my experience with it. I don't believe the kayak should be this prone to being punctured.
