Poorly Designed. So close to being perfect, but one major flaw.
This is a poorly designed gate and is not recommended for larger dogs. I think it would be fine for small dogs. My 62lb labrador was able to pull open the bottom corner of the big door (not the little pet door, that is secure) and squeeze his head, and eventually his entire body through... permanently bending the entire door. This is the the corner directly below the gate latch. The problem is that the corner is not secured AT ALL and is just hanging loose. It is a weakness waiting to be discovered by a curious/clever/determined dog. There is a little metal tab on the front of the gate preventing it from being pushed in, but nothing preventing it from being pulled out... which is exactly what my dog did. He is a normal sized black lab (As far as I know he is not on any performance enhancing drugs. However, he may be secretly lifting weights in the basement.)
As you can see in my picture, he was able to pry it open by first grabbing on with his mouth and then sticking his nose through and prying it open (I have the whole thing on video). When I got home I found that the latch was still perfectly secure as were the 4 wall mounts (the gate was very stable). The door itself is now permenantly bent.
It was so close to being the perfect gate, but that is a major design flaw that cannot be overlooked. It would be even easier to escape if the gate opened away from the enclosed pet (like in the product picture) because all they would have to do is push on that corner and squeeze through (which may be a safety concern if they got stuck!)
