The biggest issue with this purchase is how Amazon and/or Pelonis has intentionally mislead customers with the review section. At the time of writing, this page has 4.5 / 5 Stars with 738 Reviews. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT FOR THE MODEL YOU'RE PURCHASING. These are COMBINED reviews for a number of Pelonis Fan models. The one you're receiving is the FS40-16JRB (as indicated by the Store Page), and some of the higher-rated reviews are for the FS40-19PRD which is a 12-speed fan with a digital readout, higher speeds, and is a bit louder in the high speeds for those who prefer louder fans. By combining reviews from another, better-received (and discontinued) model, it makes it seem as though it's merely a variant of the 16JRB. This is clearly not the case. The two things I look for in a fan is the sound and the air speed. I have a cheap Windstream 10" desk fan that has significantly higher CFM than this fan, and is much louder as well. The highest speed of the 16JRB is akin to the Low or Medium setting on your usual Lasko or Honeywell 16" pedestal fan. Very disappointing CFM at Max speed. If what you're looking for is a silent fan, this may be the way to go. However, for a silent fan, I feel it's just slightly too loud at max speed for Office use. Medium and Low speeds are very good. I prefer the noise of a louder fan to sleep to and drown out ambient noise, however. This is definitely not a sleeper fan. Another issue is with the power cable; it is extremely short, around 5 ft. The low power of the fan means that it can't be used from very far away, so it seems the fan is designed to be used in close proximity to the user. However, given the size of the fan, it doesn't lend itself to this task very well, and you would be better served by a smaller desk fan, or a bladeless fan. The one thing I will say is the build quality is very sturdy. It has a very heavy base, metal piston, and a metal fan cage. The blade is plastic and flimsy, but that's to be expected for a modern fan that prioritizes silence. The remote is rather cheap, but it works. Note that no AAA batteries are included for remote. In terms of build quality, I would give it 4 Stars, since it's getting harder to find a fan that uses metal materials so much. Assembly was fast and simple. Instructions could have been better, as it wasn't initially clear how to affix the head / motor to the piston, but it was easy enough to figure out. Overall, I have to give it 2 Stars because the fan was not what I look for in a fan, and the Review gerrymandering - if you will - is very misleading in regards to the reception of this product. The only reason I couldn't bring myself to give it a single star is the fact that it is rather sturdy and feels well-built.
