Take heed people....read reviews
I saw the 30% 1 star reviews and I went against my better judgement. I signed up for this card just to take advantage of the 12 month free financing promotion on a $1300 purchase. Sure enough, my first statement I'm getting charged interest. They claim I chose the wrong option and the 5% option was enabled by default. Wrong. The promotion is enabled by default (check the reviews, some people aren't happy about that). When I explained this situation to them, they claimed their was zero they could do. Even after escalating to a supervisor, who repeated the exact same things to me, I wasn't able to get anywhere. Now instead of enjoying slow payments over the course of the year, I have to throw $1300 at this card immediately or risk getting slapped with 26% interest.
Oh thanks for the $68 dollars I earned from the cash back. Yea real helpful.
EDIT: Perhaps they read my review. Out of the blue, I see some transaction details on my account. It looks like my payments were all reversed, my interest charges were reimbursed, and they added the purchase back to my account with the promotion deal applied... something I was told they could not do over tech support chat. I do thank you for the change, I just wish after speaking to customer service and escalating to a supervisor you guys would have solved this when I was there. I mean come on....it's 2015, is everything not reversible and fixable in the world of computers? I work at a local water company and we reverse bills/transactions all the time. Well thanks for fixing the promotion. I hope people see that at least you guys made an effort to resolve my issue. I'm still weary about using the card again and being in this same situation but for now I'm satisfied.
Update: 12/21/2015
Sure enough, they are at it again. I've purchased a few items using their promotion of interest free payments. I also made a few purchases without interest free payments. 5 days later I allocated my payments towards those non-promotional items to pay them off and not accrue interest. Lo and behold, I notice that one of my promotional purchased has decreased in total amount. 3 separate payments I made on 2 different dates, and both of them went towards the wrong item. I clearly can't figure out how to operate a credit card payment...twice. I went to tech support and they were able to allocate my payment accordingly after trying to lecture me on my mistakes, and after I explained the option I chose and how it states exactly where my money will go, they just gave up and asked "where should the money go". After he put me on another "hold" he eventually told me my payments were already sent to the correct balance. WHAT? I can clearly see where the payments were allocated. I can't wait to get hit with interest since there is apparently NO WAY to allocate your funds to the correct area short of paying off the entire card. My only mistake was actually giving this card a second shot. Amazon, you really need to invest in a new partner. Synchrony just doesn't have their act together.
