NOT SO GOOD for 3D resin printing. I would NOT use this in any form on skin. Industrial Only!
Reading all the bad reviews, I am only going to put up what I experienced and what I tested with this 99% vs. known 91% IPA I purchased PRE-Covid. This 99% "IPA" came sealed, and had no clouding like the other customer images show. As far as the "IPA" quality of this alcohol goes, I cannot test that part. As far as the comparisons to KNOWN IPA 91%, it holds up to its name (Alcohol content only). The image I have shows clear, no clouding. The spots you see are bubbles from me pouring it into the glass container. Comparison: Evaporation rates. I dropped 5 drops each of the 91% and 99% on a granite surface at 73 deg F.. and noted evaporation rates. Both left residue after evaporation, Both displayed characteristics like wicking, and pulling at the edges of the alcohol on the flat surface. The 99% (ArtNaturals) evaporated noticeably quicker at about 8 to 10% faster rate. Burn Test: Placing 1 tsp in a Pyrex cup, settled at the bottom of both the 91% and this 99% and noting the burn rate, cleanliness of the flame, and burn smell. The 91% burned and smelled like IPA does with the noticeable pungent after-tone smell. It burned with mostly clean flame in the blue range, and noticeable yellow upper flamepath. The 99% ArtNaturals burned cleaner with mostly all blue flame and very little yellow upper flame, what you would expect from almost pure alcohol. This alcohol had a lesser smell while burning. As far as the beer smells and other perfume smells the other customers are smelling, I cannot attest to that. What I am smelling in my gallon is mainly grain alcohol. With that being said, It doe not smell completely like (pre-covid) 91% IPA. I have no way of being able to tell what other ingredients are in this "99% IPA". I say pre-covid IPA because nowadays, it is really hard to get honest IPA without companies trying to cash in on the pandemic and selling garbage. Hope this helps. *** UPDATE: After using this on 3D printing for awhile, I can assure you this isn't even "just grain alcohol" as I stated in my earlier writeup. There is something in it as it is screwing with the cleaning of 3D prints. It "gels up" the surface on 3D resin prints... Small gel spots. No other alcohol I use has ever done that. I have ethyl alcohol and true IPA, neither one do this to my 3D prints... this stuff IS NOT by any standards IPA of any kind.. I would STRONGLY SUGGEST you DO NOT use this on your skin nor in any hand sanitizers and DO NOT use this without gloves! Who knows what is truly in this stuff. It is not just alcohol. *** ONE STAR due to the FACT this is not what it says it is by any stretch of any imagination.
