Please do not ignore this and other critical reviews regarding the handful of recipes that can be used with this appliance! This does NOT automate water bath canning. It automates a unique canning method and the recipes for this unique canning method are very few. Do not think even that the hundreds of water bath canning and pickling recipes on Ball's own website can be used. They cannot. None of them! Not even by recalculating amount of identical ingredients for a smaller batch. NO. You can use only the recipes for "Freshtech auto canner". Go ahead - filter for that and see what you get!! If you are OK spending nearly $300 so that you can make a basic strawberry jam and a few variants, basic dill pickles and a few variants, traditional salsa and a few variants etc, this is your machine. Forget about the thousands of recipes available for water bath canning, forget about even the hundreds of water bath canning recipes on Ball's own site. Want to use those cayenne and pablano peppers with plum tomatoes from your garden to make a salsa - PIPE DREAM! No can do (no pun intended)! Not with this unique canning method. BTW I did confirm all this by speaking with a rep at Ball. No mention about any new recipes coming soon. Simply - it can only use the recipes tested by Ball for this unique canning method. Immediately after that call, I bundled it all up and am taking it back to UPS Store for return. Save yourself some time.
