The little things ruin this otherwise decent heater
I’m dumbfounded at how a couple, overlooked functions make this unit terrible. First, it seems to heat fine and it’s quiet after it warms up, so that’s decent. Besides that, the entire user experience is sub-par. I would not recommend it over much better competitors. I really wanted this unit to be good. I truly did. But it’s not. This unit only has a few basic functions, so it’s unbelievable to me that they got it so wrong. Here’s what I found to be poorly implemented: 1) When the unit gets powered off, it resets completely and forgets the temperature and heating mode settings. If you want to turn it off in the some other room before going to bed, you’ll have to set the temp and mode again the next day. And the next. And the next. This is an unacceptable user experience. 2) If the power is cut or goes out, the unit forgets everything, including whether it was on previously. This is more so a problem if you want to put this heater on an external timer outlet or power switch of some sort. 3) The primary part of the LED display is blue. Bright blue. I tried putting this in my bedroom, but it lit up half the room after I turned off the lights. Why didn’t they go with red?? It’s so simple, yet the wrong choice was made. Again, I’m pretty sure nobody on the product/design teams ever actually used this thing. 4) Eco mode. You can’t set the temperature when it’s in eco mode, which is thoroughly annoying. What use is it and why would I ever select that mode if I can’t even set the temperature?? Also, just what the h*ll is eco mode? The instruction manual does not say. That’s right, there is only one line I could find in the manual that says anything about eco mode, and even that line fails to even hint at what it is or how it functions. Seriously? I don’t think it’s asking for much to want a heater to remember it’s state or temperature when I turn it off and later back on. Nor is it asking too much to want to use it in a dark room while I sleep. And I’d really like to know how each function actually works. It seems like these things should be simple, easy fixes for a product team. It’s clear they don’t use their own product, which is sad. I’ll be returning this one and thinking twice before buying an Amazonbasics branded item again. It’s not worth it to save $15 if I have to deal with a crappy user experience. I really do hope the Amazon product team takes note.
