I have been using Zyflamend for several years, as I am allergic to non-steroidal anti-inflammatories. As a physician, I have more than 700 patients currently using Zyflamend in it's earlier formulation form. It was very effective. I had not bought a new bottle for myself during the last 1 year, because I stocked up prior to that. However, I started getting calls from my chronic pain and arthritis patients saying that their pain was worse. In case after case, they had changed nothing else in their medication regimen or in activity levels. I now find out that without any warning, Proctor and Gamble (who bought New Chapter, a very responsible and ethical company), kept the milligram levels of each herb the same, but changed the 'extraction' process to the cheaper aqueous (water) extraction from the original carbon dioxide (gas) extraction process. This reduces the 'bioavailability' of these herbs. What this means is the herbs ARE NOT AS AVAILABLE TO YOUR BODY AFTER YOU TAKE THE CAPSULE, as the previous formulation product was. Therefore your body does not 'see' the same dose of the herbs, and it is unable to provide the same level of relief with the same number of capsules per dose. This makes this previously appropriately priced product, a complete rip off since h P & G has NOT lowered the price for this, now, less effective product. Ah HA! This is why I have been getting all these calls. I deal with a LOT of people with chronic pain in my practice. I will not stand behind a product that I cannot believe in and has been changed in a way to try to fool the public. I am now having my staff call each and every patient, that I recommended this product t,o to ask them about their experience. THEN, I have them tell them that if they are not experiencing the same level of pain relief that they did with the previous formulation (if they have bought the new bottle that has the different colored capsule with the thick pasty stuff inside) that they should stop taking it immediately. I will research to find some other product or combination of products to help them regain the relief that the old formulation of Zyflamend gave them. Here's a tip, Proctor and Gamble, you HAD a winner. I had told all of my colleagues about this and had great results with my patients who were benefiting from the previously fabulous product. You should not have opted for cheapness over effectiveness. You have let down the medical community, our patients, and me. I have now posted a sign in my office, and have color reproduction of the old and the new box information available for my patients to let them know not to buy the new one, and if they do and there are capsules of a mud green color substance inside, that they return them to the store. If I were you, I'd fix this immediately. I would be happy to go through the process of letting my patients know that you finally found the error in your decision and will return this product to its former, trusted, properly extracted with the appropriate amount of oil in each capsule...or the original gel cap that was very dark brown.
