I really do not like this set up- also the tokens start to go up from 17 to now 25
I am not a fan of this set up. You read chapter by chapter. The first 3 are free; after that it requires tokens. Well, these chapters are ridiculously short. I would not even consider them chapters. I read the first 3 of The Marriage Auction in less than 10 minutes. The next is 17 tokens. 17 tokens for a chapter that takes 5 minutes to read max. It is hard to determine how much it will cost to read the whole thing. Honestly, it feels like a scam. You don't know how much it will truly cost to read the whole thing. Furthermore, I do like it- I've found the first 3 chapters intriguing. But they are not even how you think of chapters! Each chapter would only fill a single piece of paper. Moreover, I like to read at my own pace. Sometimes I like to read a huge amount if I cannot fall asleep. And I don't want to keep clicking to buy tokens, click on a new chapter, etc. I would much rather have this presented as a book, determine if the price is worth it, and just buy it (or not). It's a shame because I would probably buy this as a book. But with not knowing how much it will truly cost, not being able to read at my own pace (and have to wait for chapters to come out- and I lose interest fast because I can read a book in a week- and I am not going to have it where I read a short chapter once a week or so), and the hassle of having to buy tokens and also open new chapters makes this a no go for me. I will read with the free 200 tokens I have, but then am done. And also done with this new type of set up. *Update* The chapters begin to get more and more expensive. The tokens start from the range of 17 up to currently 25. The author is doing this where she knows she has you wanting to read more since you are already invested, and cranks up the price. It's not like the chapters are way longer than the cheaper ones. I am disgusted by this. I was going to look up the author to see if she had any regular Kindle books, but now am not. I have lost all respect for people that do tactics such as this. I also refuse to put any more money into this book. The price is creeping up; and it's only the very beginning. I cannot imagine how much it would cost by the end of the series. The way this is done is clever- draw the reader in, make it seem like small amounts at first, and keep cranking it up. Each chapter is more a fraction of one; almost like 6 chapters would be a traditional chapter.
