I used this deep fryer every day. I used it to cook my dinner every night. Some days I also used it to cook my lunch. I changed the oil once a week. After two months it would no longer heat the oil. I can't cook food in room temperature oil. At that point I went to a local store and purchased a Farberware 4L deep fryer, model 201639 (amazon doesn't allow retailer names in comments but think of a big yellow asterisk).
