I was so happy to purchase this coffee maker. I like the style, the design, the stainless steel finish, the speed of making coffee, and how hot the coffee was when it was made! Believe me, I wanted to like this new little coffee pot. But on day one, after running several water cycles through the machine and making "water", the first real cup of coffee tasted funny. As did the second, the third, etc. Today, I did a side-by-side test - with my old leaky Starbuck's Solo machine. I used the same amount of water, the same travel cup to brew, the same amount of coffee. Admittedly, this machine made the coffee faster and was just as hot as the Starbuck's Solo. But the coffee still tasted like plastic. My husband could tell immediately which coffee was from the NEW coffee maker. The plastic smell and taste just won't go away. Plus, there are micro-grounds in the bottom of each coffee cup. Sorry. I am sending this back. If the plastic taste goes away, then this is a wonderful machine. And yes, if you don't use the right size mug, it will splatter. But that is not big deal. The taste....plastic.....well that's a big deal. Thank you, Amazon, for allowing me to return this.
