I just wanted to express how disappointed I am with the quality of the book they sent us, made out of my daughter's artwork. First, I was under the impression that the cover would have the title and her name typeset. The directions seemed to imply that all I needed to do was to include a piece of paper with the title and her name, and both would be typeset on the front cover. Instead, my lousy handwriting remains, and the typeset was placed over the top of it, so it looks awful. There is an erratic use of capital letters, so rather than the title being initial capped, the first word in the title, "Captain" is all upper case. It looks ridiculous. Second, the back page has the word "turRtle"--with a random capital r in the word. What is that? And there is a space before the comma in the phrase so it reads, "1 turRtle ,". As an editor by trade, I can't believe I'd make a mistake like that in the draft copy I sent. Finally, the binding, in a word, stinks. The staples are through the first half of the book, rather than down the center of the middle pages. It's off to the left of the center by about 1/4 of an inch, leaving the right half of the book without anything to secure it. I know what outsourcing is, and work with vendors every day, but we still strive for quality. This is something my daughter was supposed to be proud of, and enjoy. Instead, it's pretty embarrassing, and not at all even remotely what she, and I, expected from a company that is supposed to specialize in publishing.
