I never write a negative review if I don't particularly like a book, but I'm making an exception this time. The absolute rule of fiction writing is to stick with subject material you know, or at least do your research if you don't. The heroine of this novel (Allison) is a neonatal nurse and a childbirth educator. Sadly, the author doesn't seem to have the faintest idea about what either role entails. I am both a neonatal nurse and a childbirth educator, and I find myself truly bothered by the laughably inaccurate portrayal of these professional roles. Admittedly, the vast majority of readers will not be offended as I am, and I hope no one models their perceptions of parenting education on Allison. But I sincerely hope that no one seriously considers the ridiculous parenting advice the author gives through her heroine either! Apart from this, the characters are lame and the plot underdeveloped. It had potential, but it failed abysmally.
