DO NOT ORDER FROM T&T Imports
DO NOT ORDER FROM T&T Imports! The item they sent me was counterfeit - and I have documented proof. I confirmed this by speaking with Samsung Customer Service directly, as well as by doing a side-by-side comparison between the item T&T Imports sent me and one I ordered directly from Samsung's website. I'm trying to figure out how to uploaded pictures of the side-by-side comparison - so be sure to check them out if/when I figure it out. The legit item is on the right, the counterfeit item that T&T Imports is selling is on the left. I had read several reviews on here from other customers expressing similar concerns, but I wasn't sure which sellers were doing this. I assumed that if folks were posting negative reviews on here about counterfeit products that Amazon would have taken steps to address the problem and that it was no longer an issue - I was wrong. Unlike some of the other reviews on here that mentioned receiving two separate boxes or boxes without holograms on them, I received just one box - and it had a hologram on it. So I thought I was in the clear; however, the "red flags" that I had received a fake quickly began to surface. Since I work for a company that manufactures a product that is frequently counterfeited, I'm well trained at identifying the finer details that are often overlooked by counterfeiters. But I have to admit, what T&T Imports is selling on here is pretty darn close to the real thing. The vast majority of people would never know unless they were doing a side-by-side comparison. The first red flag was the packaging for the product itself. The blue ink had transferred and smudged all over the white areas of the box (the exterior bubble mailer used to ship the product and product packaging itself showed no signed of being exposed to water). This rarely happens with packaging from major companies, and ink transfer was not an issue with the legit product. The quality of the graphics on the fake product's packaging is sub-par compared to the authentic product. The "white" is less white and the images are lower resolution (you can see the ink dots when looking closely). On the back side of the product packaging, the model number "GH69-17453A" on the fake product was printed in black ink. On the authentic product, the model number is printed in the same color ink as the rest of the copy on the back. The language on the warranty insert on the fake product appeared to be legit, including the phone number for Samsung; however, the insert was folded backwards. The title page for the insert was inside the fold for the fake product. For the authentic product, the title page for the warranty insert was on the outside of the fold just like how it should be. The manufacturing inventory tracking code (looks like a QR code) was partially cutoff on the fake product. This would NEVER happen on legit product, as these codes play an integral role in the automated (semi-automated) manufacturing process. A partially cut-off code would cause major issues throughout the process and would be addressed immediately (I speak from my experience in manufacturing). Some of the less obvious details that were only readily apparent once able to do a side-by-side comparison include: -The clear plastic bag covering the battery for the fake product was was frosted vs. clear for the authentic product. -Two of the symbols on the battery were wrong for a USA product (recycling symbol with 4 arrows vs. 3; the number "5" encircled by two arrows) and one of the symbols was missing altogether (NYCE below a box with 3 arrows). The manufacturing locations were different, but this doesn't necessarily indicate a fake product as many companies have multiple countries of manufacture. -The label on the inside of the battery charger for the fake unit was slightly crooked - this RARELY happens with the tight quality control requirements of major companies like Samsung. Additionally, the printing on the fake charger wasn't as clear as the authentic product (this would be impossible to tell without a side-by-side comparison). -The quality of the plastic for the battery charger is notably different on the fake product vs. the authentic. The hinge operates much more smoothly on the authentic product and there is less light bleed through the plastic when the battery is charging. In summary, DO NOT ORDER FROM T&T Imports!
