Lamp can't be used on a swich controlled outlet. It can only be turned on with the foot switch which only has about a foot of cord between the switch and the lamp. We had wanted to place it behind a sofa but if we do we can't get to the switch to turn the lamp on. Touch controls would have been a better option for a lamp like this. UPDATE: Should have heeded the warnings to save the box. It quit working after 2 weeks.
